Overview

Effective July 1, 2026, a new monthly Online Ordering and Delivery Services Enablement Billing of $34.99/month was introduced for eligible Shift4 US merchants. 

What This Billing Covers:

  • Shift4’s first-party Online Ordering service
  • Shift4’s Marketplace integrations with third-party delivery providers (e.g., DoorDash, Grubhub, Uber Eats)
  • Infrastructure, monitoring, and support that keep menus in sync, orders flowing into the POS, and payments secure

Impacted Merchants:

  1. All US Shift4 Dine merchants
  2. All US F&B Merchants on the following Legacy POS systems:
    1. POSiTouch
    2. Restaurant Manager
    3. FuturePOS
    4. FocusPOS
    5. Harbortouch

Exempt Merchants (Billing Does NOT Apply):

  • All merchants outside of the US
  • Micros
  • 3PI
  • GiveX POS and E-Commerce
  • DOTN
  • Shift4 One
  • Shift4 Venue
  • Shift4 Shop
  • Standalone Terminal
  • Stage Only File

Why is Shift4 introducing this billing now?

  • “This billing ensures your restaurant always has online ordering and delivery ready when you need it — fully supported, monitored, and kept current. It’s production-ready for you whenever you decide to lean on it.”
  • “It covers the infrastructure that keeps your ordering, payments, and delivery rails stable, integrated, and compliant.”
  • “This billing allows Shift4 to own the complexity — integrations with DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub, security updates, etc. — so your staff and guests aren’t the ones paying the price when something breaks.”

Why are you charging me for services I don’t use?

  • “I can see how it may be frustrating to pay for something you’re not actively using.”
  • “This billing covers the integration infrastructure, support, and access to over 25 services (and growing) which are available on your account, whether or not you choose to enable them.”
  • “That said, I don’t want you paying for something that doesn’t feel valuable. We have two paths: (1) We can help you fully enable and use the online ordering and delivery services available on the platform, or (2) we can remove the monthly billing.”
    • If the merchant chooses to have the billing deferred, agents will complete an Easy Deferment request.
    • Important: Billing deferment does not uninstall services. Deferring the billing keeps all existing integrations intact. Shift4 will monitor merchants who request billing deferment but continue using the services.

Your competitors don’t charge this billing. Why shouldn’t I switch?

  • While competitors don’t charge standalone Online Ordering and Delivery Enablement billing, they do charge setup billing, marketplace billing, and/or require merchants to subscribe to higher-priced plans (e.g., Clover’s Restaurant Growth plan at $89.95/month per device).
  • When comparing the total cost of running a restaurant on another platform — processing rates, hardware, support, and online ordering — Shift4 is consistently one of the most competitively priced fully integrated solutions available.
  • The $34.99/month is a net savings compared to what the same capabilities cost on another platform.

Additional Notes:

  • Third-party agreements unaffected: Removing the POS integration does not impact any existing agreements merchants have with DoorDash, Grubhub, Uber Eats, or other providers.
  • New merchants: Merchants onboarded on or after April 1, 2026, will not be auto-enrolled into this billing until T&Cs are updated.
