Overview
The Opera PMS Payment Links feature streamlines payment collection for hotel reservations by integrating Shift4 Checkout payment links with Opera PMS reservation records. This allows hotel operators to securely request and collect payments from guests without leaving Customer Hub.
The feature supports both legacy Opera PMS (OPI On-Prem) and cloud-based Opera PMS environments.
Benefits
- Generate secure payment links directly from Customer Hub
- Retrieve reservation information using a booking confirmation number
- Send payment links to guests via email
- Copy and share payment links manually when needed
- Automatically update Opera PMS reservations when payment is completed
Prerequisites
Before using Opera Payment Links, ensure the following requirements are met:
- The merchant is an active hotel operator.
- The property is utilizing either:
- Legacy Opera PMS (OPI On-Prem), or
- Cloud-based Opera PMS.
- The operator has access to Shift4 Customer Hub.
- The reservation exists within the connected Opera PMS environment.
How It Works
- Log in to Shift4 Customer Hub and select the appropriate hotel property from your portfolio.
- In the Payment Links page, select the Hospitality template.
- In the Payment link creation page, enter the guest's booking confirmation number. The Customer Hub retrieves and displays the reservation details associated with the booking.
- Save the link and send the payment link to the guest using the email address associated with the reservation. Operators may also:
- Modify the recipient email address before sending.
- Copy the payment link and manually deliver it through another communication channel.
- The guest opens the payment link and submits payment through the secure Shift4 Checkout payment page.
- After successful payment, Customer Hub automatically sends a request to Opera PMS to record the payment against the reservation.
The reservation is updated without requiring additional action from the hotel operator.
Additional Notes
- Payment links are generated securely through Shift4 Checkout.
- Reservation details are retrieved directly from the connected Opera PMS environment.
- Payment posting to Opera PMS occurs automatically after successful payment completion.
- Operators can choose to send the payment link via Customer Hub email delivery or distribute the link manually.
