Set Up the Customer-facing Display
Description: Learn how to install and connect the Customer-Facing Display for Shift4 Dine before configuring it on the Workstation.

Customer-facing Display Requirements
The Customer-Facing Display requires Shift4 Dine version 1.78.3 or later.
Connect the Customer-facing Display (PAX A3700) to the L1400
The recommended connection method for the PAX A3700 Customer-Facing Display is a USB-C cable connected directly to the base of the L1400 terminal.
A previous firmware issue could cause the L1400 network connection to become disabled when a directly connected Customer-Facing Display completed its nightly reboot. This issue has been resolved in the latest firmware version.
Use one of the following connection methods:
- USB-C to Base of L1400: Preferred and recommended connection method.
- USB-C to POS Hub: No longer recommended. The USB-C right-angle cable can connect directly to the bottom of the L1400, eliminating the need for the USB-C adapter used in this configuration.
- Docking to L1400: Possible but not recommended. The connection can become unstable during use and may cause the Customer-facing Display to freeze.
Note: A USB connection is not required when the Customer-facing Display is mounted on the back of the POS. However, a direct USB-C connection to the L1400 is the recommended connection method.
Connect the Customer-facing Display to the back of your Workstation.
