Shift4 Dine v1.126.1 Release Plan

  • Released to Australian merchants on Wednesday, 8/12.

Order Management

Order Entry now delivers a consistent experience across all Shift4 Dine devices — Workstation, Handheld, and Tablet. Core design elements remain unified across device types, with adjustments tailored to each screen size and use case.

The discount action has moved from the kebab menu to a dedicated button directly on the Order Entry screen, making it faster and more accessible to apply discounts mid-order.

Staff can now apply discounts by scanning a pre-generated barcode, eliminating the need to manually search through discount menus during busy service.

Managers can now configure Modifier Skip to automatically bypass modifier prompts for specific menu items and designated roles, speeding up order entry for items that don't require customization.

Staff can now select multiple ticket items at once, making it faster to apply discounts, assign courses, or perform bulk actions without tapping each item individually.

Internal Only:

A default price can now be set for open items, giving staff a pre-filled starting value during order entry rather than entering a price from scratch each time.

A new permission, Inventory Tracking Permission for Available Toggle, allows managers to restrict employees from adjusting item availability and quantity on hand directly from the Order Entry screen.

Table Management

Table View now provides direct access to Fire Next Course, Pay, Split/Manage Tickets, Transfer Server, Transfer Table, and Print Guest Check — eliminating the need to navigate to the Order tab for these common actions. See also: Transfer a Table in Table View.

Employees with the "Access to All Tickets" permission can open any ticket on Table View and see running dollar totals. Employees without this permission can only open their own tickets, keeping dollar amounts on unowned tickets hidden from servers and bartenders.

Staff can now filter the Ticket Grid by Revenue Center, so bartenders and servers only see tickets relevant to their area — reducing clutter and improving speed of service in high-volume, multi-area venues.

Online Ordering

Added support for Online Ordering and QR Ordering, letting guests scan a QR code to view the menu, place an order, and pay directly from their phone. Orders are sent to the Workstation automatically and appear under the Online Orders tab for staff to manage. See QR Ordering Setup for Online Ordering for setup instructions.

Payments & Receipts

Printed credit card slips now display "Additional Tip" instead of "Tip" when an auto-gratuity or manual gratuity has already been applied to the check, reducing guest confusion and the risk of unintentional double-tipping.

Added full payment support, including Offline Processing, for the Customer Facing Display.

Internal Only:

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where multiple auto-gratuities could be applied to a ticket when a manual gratuity was added, and the guest count was increased.
  • Fixed an issue on PAX KDS devices where text wrapping was not working properly when using default text size settings.
  • Fixed an issue where the correct, single-line spacing was not respected on SNBC printers.
