Capture a Payment With a Pre-Auth on Shift4 Duo

To capture a payment with a pre-auth:

1. On your Shift4 Duo device, select a ticket with a pre-auth. These tickets are marked with a credit card icon beneath the amount.
2. Select the Pre-Authed CC tender.
3. Press the Pay button.
4. Let the customer select a tip amount, then press Continue.
5. Choose a receipt option.
6. Press the Pay button.
7. On the tender selection screen:
   1. To complete the payment with the original pre-auth card, select Pre-Authed CC.
      Important: While Shift4 Duo may show other tender options (e.g., another card or cash), attempting to use a different tender directly from the device will result in an error. For example:
      1. Selecting cash will trigger an error message.
         
         
         
         
         
      2.  Attempting a different card may result in a 00100 decline.
         
         
         
         
         
   2. To use a different tender, you must void the pre-auth first. This can only be done through the POS. After voiding the pre-auth, you can then reopen the check and process payment with another tender.

8. Press Continue and follow the prompts to complete the payment.
9. Once you are finished, select a receipt option.
