Gift Cards on Shift4 One

Description: Enable gift cards for Shift4 One and learn how to use gift card services from within the application with the steps below. 

Adjust the Date and Time
  1. The device has to have the Date and Time settings configured properly for the gift card button to be visible from the Shift4 One application. To do this, exit out of the Shift4 One application and go to the device's Settings. If prompted, enter the password 9876. If this password is unsuccessful, newer models may use the password pax9876@@.

  2. Select Date & time from the Settings menu under 'System.'
    Note: For the PAX A800 device, you will need to select System in order to get to the Date & Time settings as opposed to scrolling down the settings screen on A80/ A930 devices.

  3. When Date & time is displayed, enable Automatic date & time and Automatic time zone.

Important: If the time shows incorrectly on the device after making the Date and Time settings automatic, do not turn them off to manually correct it. These options need to remain automatic to allow communication with the Customer Hub and for the gift cards to work. 

Enable/Disable Gift Cards
  1. Launch the Shift4 One app, then tap on the hamburger menu (3 horizontal lines) in the top left corner to get into Settings.

  2. Tap Additional features.

  3. Slide the toggle on/off to enable or disable the Gift Card feature.

Add Balance
  1. From the Home screen, tap Gift Cards.

  2. Tap Add Balance.

  3. Enter the amount you want to add, then tap Add Balance.

  4. Swipe or enter the gift card number to which you would like to add the balance.

Important: As with other Standalone terminals, a separate transaction or payment type will need to be accepted to pay for the balance being added to the gift card.

Check Balance
  1. From the Home screen, tap Gift Cards.

  2. Tap Check Balance.

  3. Swipe or enter the gift card number that you want to check the balance for.

Redeem
  1. From the Home screen, enter the dollar amount that you want to redeem, and then select Pay.

  2. Select the Gift Card tender option.

  3. If any tips are being accepted, enter the tip amount, then tap Continue.

  4. Swipe or enter the gift card number that you want to redeem.

Print Report
  1. From the Home screen, tap Gift Cards.

  2. Tap Print Report.

A report will be printed out containing the following information.
