Create and Configure Menu Disclaimers in xDine

What Are Menu Disclaimers?

Menu Disclaimers let you configure information shown to guests in different spots on the menu. Allergy-related information is a common example, but any information can be presented using a disclaimer. Disclaimers are placed in menu areas or sections, and can be configured with a few different options, as covered below.

Note: It is the merchant's responsibility to inform consumers of menu item risks.

Step 1: Create a Disclaimer

1. Navigate to the xDine Admin Portal.
2. Navigate to Items + Menus > Disclaimers.
3. Select Create New Disclaimer.
4. Enter a Name. This is an internal name not shown to guests. Pick a name that means something to you, such as "Allergy Disclaimer."
5. Enter a Title. All disclaimers are shown with a title, such as "Allergy Information."
6. Enter the Text of the disclaimer, such as "Please be aware that our food may contain or come into contact with common allergens, such as dairy, eggs, wheat, soybeans, tree nuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, or wheat."

Step 2: Assign a Disclaimer to a Menu Area or Section

1. Navigate to the xDine Admin Portal.
2. Navigate to Items + Menus > Menus.
3. Select the menu you want to add a disclaimer to.
4. On the right side, select Available Disclaimers.
5. Use the dropdown next to each disclaimer to assign it to a menu area or section. You can also use this dropdown to see which areas or sections it is already assigned to. Areas or sections that are already assigned appear grayed out.

Important: Save the menu before leaving the page. No changes apply until the menu is saved.

Step 3: Configure Disclaimer Display Options (Optional)

After assigning disclaimers to menu areas or sections, you can optionally configure how disclaimers are shown in those areas or sections.

1. Navigate to the xDine Admin Portal.
2. Navigate to Items + Menus > Menus.
3. Select the menu you are working on.
4. On the left side, select the pencil icon next to a menu area or section to edit its details. The area or section expands.
5. Scroll to the bottom of the expanded area. You will see any disclaimers you have added, along with options that control their visual appearance. Tooltips next to each option explain what it does.
6. If you have more than one disclaimer, drag them to reorder.

Important: Save the menu before leaving the page. No changes apply until the menu is saved.

Note: All disclaimers are shown below text that says "Disclaimer." This text cannot be changed. The look and feel of the disclaimer will vary depending on your theme.
